Backup HUB2 Configuration File to Attached USB Stick

Greetings Community

I know the HUB2's configuration file is manually downloaded to the user's disk. As the router has a USB port, could the back up process be automated to save the backup configuration file directly to an attached USB memory stick.

Additionally, the backup could be configured to run monthly or yearly and filter the number of backups.

Kind regards

Ray

Re: Backup HUB2 Configuration File to Attached USB Stick

@raymondlan65 welcome to the community.

It is not possible to achieve a backup to the USB drive or to create a backup routine.

Unless regular local changes to the Hub config are made, regular backup is not really required as nothing will be changing.

A one shot backup could be created as when required.

N.B. It is not good practice to restore backups from a previous firmware versions.

Also be aware that the hub USB socket only supports the obsolete SMB1 protocol. Many operating systems block access to this unless you positively enable it. This is due to security concerns.

Re: Backup HUB2 Configuration File to Attached USB Stick

Many thanks, Dan_the_Van.

Good point about restoring from old backups.

A one-shot backup to either a download folder or a connected USB stick would be good. The exported configuration file could have the firmware version in the file so the router can't restore a configuration from a different firmware version.

I guess I have to put a date in my diary to remember to make a backup.

Many thanks.
