Been on the move today, looking at the Install guide it might be necessary to reset the router back to factory defaults to change from DSL to Wireless Router Mode, then start as if new out of the box.
In Wireless router mode it looks like LAN4 will be the WAN port which connects to the ONT.
As previously stated the 'Internet connection type will be PPPoE, set the IPTV/VLAN settings OFF.

This is most helpful, Dan - thanks for your efforts!
I'm hoping that the change will be straightforward so that I don't inconvenience the Openreach engineer too much.
A reset may well be the only course of action though I'm guessing the mesh wifi will need to be set up from scratch which I was hoping to avoid.
I'll check out the manual (thanks for the link) and keep my fingers crossed for tomorrow.

If you have a Hub2 (or even a Hub1) to hand use that to confirm the connection works and get you up and running. The OR engineer can then depart happy.
You can then install the Deko with the knowledge that what ever problems you may come accross is down to setup and not the connection.

I had dug out the hub 2 as backup but, you’re right…it may be the better first port of call.

He’s asked me to contact PN to check if the line has been activated
@jagey activating the line has nothing to do with Plusnet. The engineer should have checked that themselves with Openreach. Problem is that most installations are done by contractors and they want to get away asap.
What lights are on the ONT ?
Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

As an aside, my installation was done by an MJ Quinn engineer with further jobs that day, but he was happy to wait until I had confirmed the installation was solid. Suppose it depends on the installer.

You could try a factory reset of hte Hub2 to see if that makes a difference.

Thanks to all those above.
Hub 2 now connected after a long helpful lead through from PN's Tom in Sheffield.
The problem was an old account settings issue ultimately reset to factory and then set to my current PN details.
Decos will wait for another day.
James from M.J.Quinn was here for me, too!!! He did a great job despite the weather being chill. I've no complaints there, he's a good lad.

So, as a final hurrah, took out the Hub 2 from the equation and shoehorned the Deco X50-DSL into the ONT.
Had to go through a full system reset including the mesh slaves and, of course, rediscovering the peripherals 😕
More work than I intended but it's helped to have community support and the helplines.
Next task is the soft phone…Acrobits Groundwire…I can feel it all coming together!

Yes, I trust I have. Not sure whether it was the OTS or my overkeen jumping the gun. A&A very helpful and responsive and the PN helpline were really kind and understanding.
I'm awaiting the ported line to activate and then I'll be wrestling with the Acrobits Groundwire app!

I've always found them to be so. I use them for the voip numbers for the office pbx.
and the PN helpline were really kind and understanding.
So, to be clear, have they confirmed (preferably in blood! but at least in writing) that the phone port isn't going to cancel your Full fibre and close the account ?
