Re: Migration Query

Thanks.
I've asked HLE to confirm what time on Sunday the work is due to be carried out however they've been unable to do so due to the amount of work involved and the fact that there will be 6 engineers working on it.  Why 6 engineers are needed I'm not entirely sure.
I haven't been able to speak to my manager as of yet as she's been stuck in a meeting for the last couple of hours, however I suspect she will decline your request on the basis of your internet connection working although I do appreciate your somewhat sceptical approach given what has gone on so far.

Easy..
1 to make the tea
1 to arrange the biscuits
1 to drive the van
1 to read the job ticket history
1 as a union rep
1 to actually do the work
All this and BT still makes a massive profit!

Just remember I gave you the opportunity for a contingency plan if it all goes belly up on Sunday........
It would be nice to know when the work will start and for approx at least how long it will go on for as I plan to disconnect my router from the line in case BT blow up my router.....
You rang as I was typing this, telling me there is no further info when they will start the work on Sunday, thanks for the call and we will just have to hope it all goes well Sunday......

Re: Migration Query

Popped into town this morning and saw that BT have started the work mentioned near Sainsburys......counted 5 x BT vans, a number of manholes open including one in the middle of the road that was partitioned off, counted around 20 people involved in the work.......
I guess they started the work late last night as we lost phone and internet at 11.05 PM for 5 mins......I assume they re-directed the cables to keep peoples phone and internet working while the work is carried out.....

Re: Migration Query

I imagine they will have done as I suspect that this work will affect a number of people.
How are things today?  Has there been any noted improvement at all, or is your sync speed still banded?

Re: Migration Query

BT's latest attempt seems to have failed yet again, assuming they completed the replacement of the 60m cable yesterday it has made no difference to my broadband whatsoever, ie I still have a very poor sync speed that Adam was trying to sort out with BT pre 18th May when the PTO guys managed to cut my internet off completely for 2 weeks as you know.....so it looks like we are back to square one......
I guess its possible its still banded but Adam advised a while ago that that was taken off after a long time getting BT to do it......
Upload still needs to be uncapped.....
Basically it is no different after the work they completed yesterday......which makes me wonder if I was on that 60m stretch of cable to start with.....
I have exactly the same download sync of 2267 as I did before Sunday, with a line attenuation of 49db and SNR margin of 16db the sync speed should be much higher than that.....

Re: Migration Query

Ok - That's not to be unexpected as you're still on a banded profile. It might have been unbanded, but it's been rebanded since.
Let me try to get that sorted for you and then we'll get your upstream uncapped once the line banding has been removed.
Leave it with me.

Re: Migration Query

Just noticed that an hour or so ago my sync speed has risen to 3965.....so I assume the banded profile has been unbanded.....got 6db snr so thats fine...upload is 648 so not sure if thats been uncapped or not as it used to be 750 ish......
While its good that the sync has risen I can't get any benefit from it as my IP profile is 1750 so is restricting my download speed, so this needs to be raised in relation to the sync speed I am getting, I would suggest an IP profile of 3000 to start with and see how we get on....I know this may rise over time but I also know it can be manually overridden and I suggest that is done.....
I have just done a BT speed test so you can see for yourself the info I mention above....

Re: Migration Query

Just so the rest of us can follow - what did the BT speed test report for the IP Profile?

Re: Migration Query

According to http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/IPprofile.htm#IPprofile_increase_time the BT IP Profile should rise within 12 hours of you syncing at the higher speed (you have a roughly 100% increase). The PN line speed will then take up to a further 12 hours (although it can be poked for an immediate increase once you post a BT speedtest showing the increased IP Profile).

Re: Migration Query

Thanks Jelv,
The reason I have asked for the profile to be manually re-set is that a fault, plus banded profile has caused my problem and therefore it makes sense to re-set so I can see as quickly as possible if the latest attempt from BT has fixed the problem or not......wether plusnet can re-set this themselves manually or get BT to do it there end in my view it makes sense so we can see where we are rather than wait for the DLM to kick in, which in the past I have known to be a bit flaky to say the least, which may only delay me further in knowing if the problem has been fixed or not.......and I am sure plusnet want to know as well so they can get me off their back at long last and we can put this to bed and move on.....we live in hope......
