Light begins to fail, time for our self reflection. Look through our window: --- First up is one of our new(ish) lads in Development, Philip
There was a mild ripple of excitement on the dev floor this morning - during the night someone had put up blinds on every window! Since we've already had our week of British summer and are nearly into monsoon season that means we're well prepared for 2009. The Brightview project (which involves integrating other ISPs onto the Plusnet platform) is still top of the agenda at the moment. Over the weekend it was pushed to gamma testing, and there's even talk of live testing soon! Having been drafted in to help (hinder?) with Brightview for the past week or so I have to say I've enjoyed making a contribution, both from a developer and a QA angle, and have started to appreciate the pressure that everyone else has been under for some time. There's been a lot of hard work over the past few months and now its starting to pay off. Lets roll this puppy!
Something succinct from Chris in Comms
Bob has spent most of his day battling through problems, replicating and passing these to the correct departments. I've been handling network change controls and posting in some forums. James has been sat with the sales team ensuring they have any support they need.
Last up, Jamie from the Networks team.
Looks like its been a fairly quiet one in Networks today, most of the team are working on the “normal things” (tickets and problems) and some work on internal systems.
- Josh: backup platform documentation and monitoring ... not exactly the most exciting thing
- Denis: have been working on PNDesktop trial, MPLS link to UK-SA, more work on new 622 pipe
- Russell: email problems and monitoring improvements
- Duncan: monitoring and problems
- Aaron: Mad as a fish domain weirdness. Focusing on tickets other than that.
- Matt: Tickets, mentoring Parbin guys, security work
- Me: Internal support, hardware ordering, VPN setups and looking at the setup for the SYchosis LAN party
-- Almost time for me to grab my climbing shoes and scarper. Have a nice evening! Kelly.
