22nd May 2009

It's Friday.  It's a Bank Holiday weekend. It's the end of day.  No doubting it we've had a busy week, but I feel like it's been a good productive one.  I hope that's the same with you too.   Let's catch-up with CSC today - here's Stephen who writes his first (I think) EOD update: Hi Stephen here from the CSC. Team C have been the people on shift this morning - we have done over 900 calls up until about 4pm. It has been quite a busy day in the CSC today as usual. When I got here at a lazy 8.30pm a few of my team were wide awake as they had been here since 7am (Yawn). Nice to see one of my team members (Harry) without his cast on his hand, having broken his finger bone horizontally, he now just has a little bandage so he can do some serious work now .. he always works hard. While the rest of the team were having a morning conversation about World of Warcraft (which drives me insane) I was just getting over a sore head, Lucozade and speaking to our customers soon woke me up. We have had a fair few calls regarding routers being set up today. Always keeps us busy, as wireless setup can take a long time. We seemed to have a fair few customers today calling regarding their ongoing faults; to give us updates or for further information on their progress. We have also had a fair few calls today relating to new broadband installations, and house moves, querying broadband activation dates, and providing updates to phone line activation dates. As it's now nearly 5 o' clock I am going home have a good weekend in this amazing weather we should be having.   Ooh look here's an HR update for the week.  Here's Laura: Amanda: Company Induction for 'new boys' Steve & Nick Company Rally Planning for the HR team The HR team meeting of course..  Jen: Updating the company org structure to check line manager reporting is correct Analysing development plans and training records I've also been catching up on admin and filing.  Gem: Interviewing Learning and Development plans Facilities and HR team meetings Coordinated company induction for 'new boys' Steve and Nick  Laura: Role Profile documentation 360 feedback collation Other admin and lots of filing fun!.  Sadly no bank holiday for myself but I hope everyone has a super-dooper time and the sun gets his hat on!   Too right.  C'mon Mand let's have the Comms update then: Friday, and a Bank Holiday weekend, w00t! Comms news today: James skulked off at lunchtime Bob refused beer!  Chris seems to have way too many holiday days (and as a result isn't working a full week for at least the next 3 :/) Matt discovered that offering people peas as a snack generates much confusion, but they don't taste that bad apparently. I discovered that the magic sword can do wonderfully violent things, but it can't cut through red tape and it can't speed up the provisioning process.   Today we worked on: Forums Problems Signup reporting Change Controls A sekrit projekt plan  and Bob did 'all sorts of stuff'. I'll leave you to work out what that involves. Have a good weekend all. And please join me in wishing Bur the Blades all the luck in the world in the Play Off final. Awww thanks Mand that's very generously-spirited of you. P-j
