End of Day: 24th April

Hey all. Bit of a low turn out on the EOD today again. I think I'll borrow Mand's cricket bat tomorrow and give it to PJ to go remind people. I'm looking forward to seeing a bunch of your tomorrow! Henry from Development:

Hi all, it's Henry here from Development. Once again its been a very busy day here in the department, and week for that matter. I've spent some of my time in overview meetings for the new LCST folk. There has been some really useful information come out of them, and I have learnt loads of new stuff (which is great), so thanks to all involved in setting those up. And talking of the new LCST folk, they have started to rollout their first problem fixes to the live platform (you may have noticed some of them?), so a big congratulations to all of them. It was a happy day when I rolled my first problem fix, so I'm sure they have all had a great week. The rest of the team are still heavily involved in Bright View Phase 2, whereas myself and Phil (The new guys if you remember) are working on our own little project to help out the QA department. Our mini project is the guinea pig to push some of the department's goals forward such as agile development, and the use of certain tools. Overall I think it's going remarkably well. So that's it from me, I'll catchup with you all next time.

Oh hang on, it's Henry again!

Just to clarify something for everyone. My parents named me Ben. My department named me Henry. It's endearing

Anyone else think we are working them too hard? Matt from Comms:

Hmm. Well today Mand has been working from home though she has been having one or two issues with her newly installed laptop. I dare say though that she's managed to get past these in true style and soldier on through. James has been off with the sales team though he has made one or two cameo appearances on the CSC floor. He's been the main forum guru for today as well as handling the massive amounts of minutiae that come with looking after a team. James has been off with the sales team though he has made one or two cameo appearances on the CSC floor. He's also arranging a "Killer Pool" competition for St. Luke's Hospice after work tonight, with half of the proceedings going to charity. Chris has been doing all sorts. From his list I shall pick up a couple of highlights - he's been beta testing some email sends, has been learning all about one of our current trials and has also apparently been sharpening spoons. I haven't asked. Bob doesn't deserve a mention today. Not only did he refuse (again) to make tea, he also refused to go and fetch the morning coffee. Oh OK then, he's been sat up with networks and trying to hide the fact that he's actually signed in to Jabber (our IM software) as people use it to constantly bother him. Fun. I've been flitting from meeting room to meeting room today, a couple of rollouts and some more high usage customer stuff. Other than that I've been trying to get a tutorial written for a VoIP phone on OS X, but that won't get finished as I've had to write this end of day too. Mind you, I've already confirmed it's fine to be in for tomorrow. Which is nice. I hope your day has been as fun and varied as mine has. Nice one.

James from Web Development:

Here's what's been going on in Web Dev today..... Andrew - constructing and editing support material for the new VoIP platform Dan - tinkering with the PlusTalk admin panel Projects Team (Chris, Wojtek, Grzegorz, Nick and Mark) - all still completely 100% focused on Brightview phase 2 bug fixes Jonny - thinking about the Community Site roadmap and has been assisting in rolling out some new changes to the live Community Site Duffy - working on problem fixes all day Sam - implementing some design content changes to Madasafish Kelly - has been engulfed in 1 to 1's and also had a tasty sounding hot chilli chicken breadcake with mayonnaise and lettuce for his lunch Colin - heavily involved with the rollout of the new changes to the Community Site and has also been looking at a Brightview phase 2 bugs Pete - working on various Brightview phase 2 related items, looking at some possible improvements to the PlusNet homepage, and has been doing some appraisal stuff I've been doing some various code reviews and tests for people, and more development and testing on customer generated support pages

Martyn from Marketing:

Phil and Nick have been locked away all day planning our future marketing strategy. With Chris on holiday, that means there's only been me and Spencer around the marketing desk today. We've been making plans for a new homepage and we've also been getting people from round the business to give feedback on a mini-site that we've been working on. In between all that I've been writing metadata and listening to the Super Furry Animals. See you tomorrow.
